The medical field has massive specialized vocabularies, which makes knowledge of Greek and Latin roots an essential part of learning medical terminology. This textbook presents students with the most important Greek and Latin roots from which the vocabulary of medicine has been derived, and demonstrates how they combine in formulaic patterns. Each chapter of the Anatomy of Medical Terminology introduces approximately fifty roots and their meanings and explains how these roots come together in a formulaic way to form meaningful medical terminology.
